With a strong sense of purpose, Lake Forest High School students from the Environmental and Animal Conservation Clubs scooped up another generous handful of mesic prairie seed mix. Standing shoulder-to-shoulder, they worked together with care and precision to cover the Carroll Meadow area, adjacent to Carruthers and West Skokie Nature Preserves. Their collective energy was palpable—each student focused, organized, and deeply invested in the significance of the moment. They knew the prescribed burn completed earlier had prepared the soil perfectly, giving the seeds the best chance to take root and flourish, and offering the land a fresh opportunity to regenerate and thrive.
